5G has come, and the media has bombed all kinds of madness, but as correspondents, we are more concerned about some real problems.

What does 5G base station look like?

5G power consumption increases, how to solve the power supply?

2/3/4 / 5G co-station, is the machine room space and bearing enough?

Coexistence of multiple systems, is the tower space enough?

How to break the short board of 3.5GHz uplink coverage?

What will the evolution of wireless network architecture look like?

What is the measured effect?

How are operators deploying 5G?

Now, let us walk into the long-distance telephone building in Beijing to find out. In this monumental building that has witnessed the 42-year history of China Communications, the new era of 5G has set sail.

What does a 5G base station look like?

First impression

The 5G pilot bureau was built by Beijing Unicom. Huawei provides a full set of end-to-end 5G commercial system equipment, including core networks, 5G base stations, and bearer networks. Beijing Unicom has planned 11 5G sites in the Financial Street area to form a continuous network covering about 3.6 kilometers of roads.

As soon as I walked into the machine room, the familiar equipment was running loudly, and the cabinet door was opened. The equipment running from top to bottom was: 5G indoor blade power supply, 4 / 5G common frame macro station BBU, 5G Only BBU The 4 / 5G common frame room is divided into BBU, 4 & 5G RHUB, access IPRAN ATN890B and lithium iron battery pack.

Going out of the machine room to the top of the building, a pair of passive antennas supporting 2/3 / 4G multi-band and a pair of 5G 3D MIMO active antennas come into view, forming a 1 + 1 minimalist sky.

After reading the first impression of the 5G base station, do you have an unspeakable excitement in your heart, anyway, I am, it is estimated that a series of questions have also come to mind!

Doesn't it mean that 5G base stations are complicated?

Does it look simple?

What the hell is that blade power supply?

What is the iron-lithium battery pack?
